QuantomiX WETSEM^TM Technology for EDS of wet samples to be shown at Pittcon 2005

Pittcon, Orlando, Florida, February 27, 2005: Quantomix plays an important role in the Pittsburgh Conference in Orlando, Florida, with its introduction of QX capsules used for Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS). Visitors to the Quantomix booth, Booth #3902, will be able to see the capsules in action in EDS analysis of wet samples throughout the conference (February 27-March 4).

A series of promising trials has already proven the worth of the single-use capsules, designed for holding wet samples for scanning electron microscopy imaging, in the analysis of wet samples with EDS. Until now, EDS, most often used for qualitative elemental analysis, has been limited by its difficulty in viewing wet samples. QuantomiX has brought EDS procedures forward with its unique capsule designed to hold samples in the SEM. Wet samples placed in this capsule can be analyzed by EDS, using both spot and full-frame analysis, permitting characterization of creams, solutions, and other liquid containing specimens in their fully wet state.

QX capsules are being used today for dispersion characterization of particles in liquids (including degree of aggregation and homogeneity), shape characterization, and imaging of many different types of samples, for both the biological and the material sciences. "QuantomiX is looking forward to more intensive utilization of our technology in the material sciences, following research which has shown its effectiveness in revealing chemical composition of wet samples by EDS," explains Dr. Ory Zik, the company´s CEO. "Because the capsules can be used for imaging and analysis of emulsions, suspensions and other liquids, core shell type materials, nano particles, pastes, gels, creams, foams, powders, and heavy metal accumulation in tissues and cells, the possibilities are endless."
